End of Guest Professorship of Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Pejatović!

By March 31st, the DAAD Visiting Professorship of Prof. Dr. Aleksandra Pejatović (University of Belgrade, Serbia) at the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education ended. The staff as well as students would like to thank her for coming to Würzburg and sharing her great knowledge with us.

After Prof. Dr. Alexandra Petjatović has already been a guest at the University of Würzburg in December 2015 and in May 2019, we were even more pleased to welcome her this time for an even longer period.

Prof. Dr. Pejatović has been conducting research in the field of adult and continuing education since 1989 and has acquired extensive expertise. She headed the most prestigious and oldest department of adult education at a European university, the Department of Andragogy at the University of Belgrade, from June 2015 to September 2021. This semester, Prof. Dr. Pejatović organised three courses on "Learning needs of adults - individual, professional and organizational level", "Quality and evaluation in adult education" and "Contemporary features of the world of work and adult education" at the Professorship. She also gave a guest lecture on "Adult Learning in Life Crisis Situations" and co-moderated the Comparative Group on “The three pillars of the third mission of higher education systems: ‘Continuing education’, ‘technology transfer & innovation’ and ‘social engagement’” at the Adult Education Academy 2023.

After this successful semester, we would like to express our sincere thanks to Prof. Pejatović for sharing her wealth of knowledge with students and colleagues. Her charisma always made discussing with her a great pleasure for everyone. It is safe to say, that Prof. Pejatovićs’ expertise on adult and continuing education has aroused curiosity and changed perspectives for both students and colleagues, which is reflected in the following comments:

I have enjoyed working with Prof. Pejatović very much. We often met and discussed current topics in adult education. In addition to her expertise, I have found her openness and curiosity about new things to be particularly valuable.” (Colleague)

"It was really interesting to have a professor from another country [as a lecturer] because it is definitely a different base/perspective because of the different culture in the other country." (Student)

Thank you Prof. Dr. Pejatovic for sharing your expertise with us!

Thank you also to the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) for supporting the visiting professorship in the winter semester 2022/23 with funds from the BMBF (German Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
