Social Top Up
Students with less opportunities
The ERASMUS programme supports students with fewer opportunities with a top-up amount and, if necessary, with the financing of real costs. Various funding options have been developed by the National Agency at the DAAD for this purpose. From the 2024 call, students with fewer opportunities who are equally qualified will be given preference in the nomination process.
The top-up amounts relate primarily to the following student groups:
- Students from a non-academic background
- Students in employment
- Students with children
- Students with disabilities or chronic illnesses
- Economic hurdles
All students who have been nominated by the partner universities or departments will receive a Social Top-Up form in which they have the opportunity to demonstrate that they have fewer opportunities.
For the groups mentioned above, there is also the option of carrying out a blended mobility. In this case, physical mobility lasts between 5 and 30 days. This is supplemented by virtual mobility.
Financial Support
Students with fewer opportunities receive a top-up amount:
- 250 euros/month: long-term mobility
- 100 euros/once: for short-term mobility of 5-14 days
- 150 euros/once: for short-term mobilities of 15-30 days
The following groups of people have the option of applying for real costs:
- Supported participants with children
- Supported participants with disabilities (GdB from 20 or proven disability/chronic illness) with additional financial needs
