Virtual Learning Environments
In the project "Virtual Learning Environments", the design of a pedagogical concept for the professional development of higher education lecturers and technological advancements of virtual learning environments are closely entwined in an iterative process, based on an action-oriented educational research approach. The project is an interdisciplinary collaboration between media pedagogy and Human-Computer-Interaction.
With a focus on theory and practice, a team from the chair of school pedagogy designs concepts for the professional development of higher education lecturers using a fully immersive seminar room. Their aim is to advance the media pedagogical competencies of lecturers to teach with special consideration of diversity. The professional development courses are evaluated formatively and summatively. They are offered through the JMU professional development program ProfiLehre and can be credited for the program "Zertifikat Hochschullehre Bayern".
A team from the chair of Human-Computer-Interaction develops a fully immersive classroom where educators and students can slip into the roles of avatars and interact with each other and with the virtual reality. In this (virtual) room, new teaching and learning-concepts can be discussed, tested and reflected on.
The seminar room is open for all content areas and offers a broad choice of technological equipment for various educational scenarios. The room design and the use of media can be adapted flexibly to the requirements of the respective teaching and learning-concepts.
