We are pleased to announce that Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mar Joanpere Foraster (University of Tarragona, Spain) will be staying at the Professorship of Adult and Continuing Education at the University of Wuerzburg during winter term 2024/2025.
Prof. Dr. Joanpere Forester is a distinguished sociologist and researcher, who played a pivotal role in a high amount of different research and teaching projects, e.g. in the EU funded project IMPACT-EV. The project was a component of the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission. Within this project, she delved into the societal impacts of the social sciences and humanities, contributing valuable insights to the field. Her academic journey also included research stays at various (inter-)national universities, such as Stanford University in 2016, which broadened her perspectives. Moreover, Prof. Dr. Mar Joanpere Foraster is the founder of the MeToo Universidad movement in Spain.
Currently, Prof. Dr. Mar Joanpere Foraster is an associate Professor of Sociology and a postdoctoral researcher at the Business Management Department at the Rovira i Virgili University. Additionally, she is an active part of the Community of Research on Excellence for All (CREA). Her work spans topics such as gender-based violence and the societal influence of the social sciences. This is why we are delighted to have her at the Professorship for the upcoming months to allow students to deepen their knowledge in the field of adult and continuing education while taking an international perspective.
During her stay, Prof. Dr. Mar Joanpere Foraster will offer three courses (in hybrid mode) and one public lecture, on highly relevant topics in international adult and continuing education. Thematically, the courses include an exploration of the "Dialogic Model of living together in Adult Education", of "Dialogic gatherings of adults" and "Contributions from Adult Education to Science and Society". In addition, Prof. Dr. Mar Joanpere Foraster will organise and conduct a public lecture to the topic „Enhancing Wellbeing: The Transformative Effects of Adult Education on Participants‘ Lives”. More information on the public lecture will be announced separately on the homepage of the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education and on our social media accounts. Students of the University of Würzburg can receive credit for the GSiK certificate by participating in the offered courses.
Prof. Dr. Regina Egetenmeyer and her team are glad to be able to offer such an enriching programme due to the kind support of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) with funding from the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
