Prof. Ramón Flecha

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Dr. Ramón Flecha will stay at the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education at JMU during summer term 2023.

Ramón Flecha is Professor Emeritus of the University of Barcelona, with which the University of Würzburg (JMU) is closely linked through the CHARM-EU Alliance (https://www.charm-eu.eu/). His scientific qualifications and professional expertise are reflected in his exceptionally extensive as well as successful research and teaching experience: He ranks first in Google Scholar with regards to social impact and gender violence, and his work is listed in the world's leading journals. He founded the first Spanish master's program in adult education and has taught at several universities, which include Université de Montpellier (France), Universidad de Columbia (New York, U.S.A.), Universidad Católica de Sao Pablo (Brazil), Universidad de La Pampa (Argentina), UNAM (México) and others.

In addition, Prof. Flecha is the founder of the research center "Community of Research on Excellence for All (CREA)", which he also directed for many years. Within this framework, there have been close research collaborations with the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education for many years. We are pleased to be able to intensify the collaborations through Prof. Flecha's stay.

In summer term 2023, Prof. Ramón Flecha will offer three courses and one public lecture. Thematically, the courses include an exploration of the "Dialogic Model of living together in Adult Education", of "Dialogic gatherings of adults" and "Contributions from Adult Education to Science and Society". More information on the public lecture "How to promote and evaluate the social impact of our interventions?" will be announced separately on the homepage of the Professorship for Adult and Continuing Education.

Prof. Dr. Regina Egetenmeyer and her team are glad to be able to offer such an enriching program due to the kind support of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) with funding from the BMBF (Federal Ministry of Education and Research).
